Funded by the DENR through the National Greening Program (NGP), this project was established in 2013 and started its operation in 2014. Since then, the project has produced more than 40,000 clones of nine timber species. Mass propagation of rooted cuttings is intended to support the reforestation program of the DENR-NGP.
Fruit Genebank Project
This project is funded by CHED in 2012 to establish a world-class Regional Tropical Fruits Genebank cum Ecotourism Park at BISU-Bilar Campus. Research activities to support the project include: morphological-botanical characterization; adaptation and yield performance; and fruit quality evaluation of 60 exotic and indigenous fruit varieties - all grafted seedlings.
Integrated Crop Management Project
The ACIAR-funded project entitled “Integrated Crop Management (ICM) to enhance vegetable profitability and food security in the Southern Philippines and Australia” started in 2012. BISU, in collaboration with the Visayas State University, is designated to perform the following research activities: sustainable agriculture; soil and crop nutrition management; insect pest management, disease management, and postharvest technology of selected fruit and leafy vegetables.
Rainforestation Farming Project
Initially funded by Visayas State University (formerly ViSCA) through the Institute of Tropical Ecology, the Rainforestation Farming Project was established in 1998 to showcase restoration of degraded karst areas with native forest timber species. To date, it is planted to more than 70 timber species in a mixed manner, all grown and now sources of seeds and wildlings for the plant nursery and clone production projects of BISU. .
Rice Genebank Project
Started in 2012, the Rice Genebank Project is a collaboration of four government institutions: Department of Agriculture, Provincial LGU-Bohol, Provincial Agricultural Office, and Bohol Island State University as the implementing agency. The project envisioned to conserve the diverse rice genetic resources in the province for future crop improvement and other utilization endeavor, including adaptation measures against climate change in the island. .
Watershed evaluation for sustainable use of sloping agricultural land in the southern Philippines
A 5 – year research project aimed at enabling improved planning of agricultural development in upland watersheds in the southern Philippines such that agricultural production can be increased and watersheds can be protected – precursors to reducing rural poverty and improving livelihoods. .
